Double Happiness

Jingdezhen, China, 2016

On the side of the car is the Chinese symbol of double happiness and in the desert landscape is a small boy, running lotus in hand, alone and bewildered. This work is a meditation on loss and bereavement, but also a celebration of family connection, hope and life. This multi-layered narrative speaks of how pain and joy can exist side by side.
